Dylan Hockley, age 6

picture from People magazine

The Hockley family had recently moved from a quiet street in Southern England to Newtown, Connecticut. Dylan loved to play with his older brother Jake outside. The Hockleys felt happy and comfortable in their new home and neighborhood. Dylan had an autistic spectrum disorder which was characterized by repetitive movement. There are different types of repetitive movement in autism, and Dylan's was flapping his arms, especially when excited. When asked once why he flapped his arms he responded "because I am a beautiful butterfly." Dylan was very much supported at Sandy Hook Elementary School and he had made much progress. Dylan's family has set up a fund to support others with autism. Please visit his Memorial Site through the link below

I have remembered Dylan by making a donation to Dylan's Wings of Change.
